About the role
The Database Administrator will oversee SGS’s database landscape to keep it stable, secure, available, and running efficiently. The role supports both day-to-day operations and larger business initiatives by handling database administration, performance optimization, backup and recovery, and data integrity across MS SQL and Azure SQL platforms. It also contributes to SGS’s digital transformation efforts by ensuring dependable data handling and smooth database operations.
Key responsibilities
- Administer, support, and fine-tune MS SQL and Azure SQL databases in development, testing, and production settings.
- Create, evaluate, and improve stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers so the databases perform reliably and efficiently.
- Track database health and apply performance-tuning methods to maintain strong system availability and speed.
- Carry out scheduled backups, test recovery procedures, and help plan disaster recovery measures to support continuity of operations.
- Set up and manage database security, access rights, and permission controls to safeguard confidential business information.
- Investigate and fix database problems such as slow performance, deadlocks, and data mismatches in a timely manner.
- Assist with database migration work, patch deployment, upgrades, and version-control-related activities.
- Work closely with application developers and business stakeholders to support database needs and system improvements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years working in database administration.
- Hands-on expertise with MS SQL Server.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure SQL.
- Strong understanding of stored procedures.
- Knowledge of API integration will be an added advantage.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
