Role overview
Sanofi is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Data Science group in Toronto, Ontario. This role sits within Digital Commercial Advanced Analytics and AI and focuses on building advanced AI, GenAI, and agentic AI capabilities that support commercial transformation across the global organization.
You will contribute to high-impact solutions such as autonomous agents for omnichannel engagement, AI-enabled market access and payer strategies, conversational data interfaces, unified multi-agent platforms for sales and medical teams, and intelligent patient support experiences. The position also involves helping shape the company’s digital Commercial AI direction and influencing the AI platform and data foundation roadmap.

Key responsibilities
- Build, develop, and deploy scalable AI, GenAI, and agentic AI solutions aligned to strategic priorities across global business units.
- Partner with product owners, business teams, data scientists, and engineers to deliver AI products that generate measurable business impact.
- Contribute to the direction of Sanofi’s digital Commercial AI strategy.
- Help shape the AI platform and data foundation strategy.
- Present technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences using strong storytelling.
- Ensure solutions follow the responsible AI framework and related compliance expectations.
- Apply and promote strong practices for GenAI and agentic AI development, including documentation and code standards.
- Stay current with emerging GenAI, agentic AI, and broader AI trends, and bring in tools, methods, and ideas that improve existing solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists and interns.
- Support digital transformation initiatives across commercial functions.
- Contribute to autonomous agents for omnichannel engagement.
- Support AI- and GenAI-led improvements in market access and payer strategies.
- Develop conversational AI capabilities for talk-to-data style interactions and insights.
- Help create a unified platform for sales, marketers, and MSL users powered by multi-agent systems.
- Improve the patient journey through personalized, intelligent support.
Required background
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI/ML, mathematics, physics, computational linguistics, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist using AI/ML methods.
- Working knowledge of GenAI proof-of-concept development.
- Strong Python programming skills, including experience with AI libraries such as Transformers, LangChain, and RAG pipelines.
- Familiarity with NLP tools and techniques such as regex and fuzzy string matching.
- Experience with Snowflake and Pinecone is an advantage.
- Good understanding of agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and orchestrating multi-step AI processes.
- Experience building and packaging Python code using functions and classes for AI product development.
- Background in production-grade model and software development.
- Understanding of end-to-end AI and GenAI lifecycle management.
- Experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience using enterprise APIs.
- Awareness of regulatory, compliance, and ethical considerations in AI and GenAI.
Additional qualifications
- Ability to discuss AI, GenAI, and agentic AI concepts in simple, business-friendly language and interpret stakeholder feedback.
- Skill in identifying and managing blockers, risks, and dependencies across Agile teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication, data visualization, business analysis, and data storytelling skills.
- Prior exposure to life sciences, healthcare, or large global organizations is a plus.
- Comfort working in multicultural, distributed teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment while balancing multiple priorities.
- Relevant certifications in data science, agentic AI, or generative AI are an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required.
