Role Overview

The Data Scientist will support JIOC intelligence operations by applying advanced analytics, data engineering, mining, exploratory analysis, predictive modeling, and statistical methods. The role is centered on turning multi-source information into timely, actionable intelligence, while also building AI/ML and automation solutions that strengthen intelligence workflows, prediction systems, and recommendation engines.

Key Responsibilities

• Use scientific and analytical methods to process, organize, and structure data from multiple sources for intelligence use.
• Carry out advanced statistical analysis, modeling, and exploratory data work to uncover actionable intelligence insights.
• Build and maintain data visualizations that support JIOC intelligence activities.
• Develop and test statistical models that reveal patterns, trends, and relationships across intelligence sources.
• Create AI/ML methods and systems to support intelligence operations and decision-making.
• Set up automated data integration and conditioning workflows to improve all-source analysis.
• Partner with analysts and computer scientists to design new data processes and solutions.
• Write scripts and algorithms that reduce manual work and expand analytical capability.
• Strengthen data quality, search, and predictive modeling for intelligence operations.
• Use experimental design techniques to test hypotheses and assess intelligence processes.
• Review current data capabilities and recommend improvements for the intelligence enterprise.
• Perform systems analysis to define requirements for new or upgraded intelligence databases.
• Spot duplicated effort and build cleaner, more efficient data integration approaches.
• Work closely with intelligence analysts and operators to gather requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
• Participate in planning conferences, exercises, working groups, capability development meetings, coordination boards, and technical exchange sessions with mission partners.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
• Strong command of multiple programming languages and analytical tools.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence applications.
• Solid understanding of large-scale multi-INT analytics.
• Proven experience deploying advanced predictive models in operational settings.
• Background creating custom analytical solutions for complex intelligence problems.
• Advanced experience with cloud platforms and big data architectures.
• Experience leading data science work and mentoring junior team members.
• Good understanding of the intelligence enterprise and mission needs.
• Ability to explain complex analytical findings in a way that drives operational outcomes.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and production deployment of data science solutions.

Security and Access Requirement

This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
