Job description

Overview

Fremont Bank is hiring a Data Analyst I to join its Data Analytics team in Livermore, California. This position is centered on building reliable, governed enterprise reporting and turning data into insights that support decisions across the organization.

The role is not limited to routine report building. It involves combining information from multiple banking systems, checking data quality, interpreting results, and presenting meaningful analysis to business teams and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support organization-wide analysis covering loan portfolios, deposit movement, pipeline activity, production drivers, efficiency measures, and growth trends.
  • Look beyond basic reporting and translate findings into practical business insight.
  • Pull data from several systems, then clean, transform, validate, and prepare it for analysis.
  • Detect data inconsistencies, trace their causes, and work with data owners to correct issues.
  • Create reconciled datasets that function as a trusted enterprise reporting source.
  • Build and maintain reporting that is consistent, repeatable, and aligned across business lines.
  • Develop dashboards and reports that are easy to understand and visually effective using tools such as Tableau.
  • Document metric definitions, calculation methods, and assumptions so reports remain standardized and duplicated versions are eliminated.
  • Help modernize legacy reporting by moving manual Excel-based work and IBM Cognos reports into scalable datasets and Tableau dashboards.
  • Review and validate legacy report logic before migration to ensure output accuracy.
  • Partner with leaders, staff across business units, and the data warehouse team to support enterprise collaboration.
  • Learn how different parts of the bank operate and how their activities affect overall performance.
  • Provide accurate, clearly documented analysis for weekly, monthly, and quarterly leadership reporting.
  • Design data models and reporting structures that make ad hoc analysis faster and reduce manual rework.
  • Explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related data-focused role; banking or financial services experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability to examine, clean, and interpret complex datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with Tableau Prep and Tableau Desktop, including data preparation, calculated fields, parameters, and dashboard design.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Exposure to IBM Cognos, Python, and SQL is considered an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of banking operations such as commercial lending, residential lending, deposits, treasury management, and related performance metrics.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex analysis in a business-friendly way.
  • Proven experience building trusted reporting, improving data quality, and delivering enterprise-level analytics.
  • Physical ability to remain in one position for long periods, use a computer and office equipment regularly, communicate effectively, and occasionally lift items weighing 10–15 pounds.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
