Job Overview
The Data Analyst will be an integral part of Bloomingdale’s Data & Analytics department. This role involves developing reports and generating actionable insights for business stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies and site performance, and to identify areas for improvement. The Data Analyst will collaborate across various business functions, creating essential reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making and streamline operational processes. This position requires a blend of strong technical capabilities, a deep understanding of business strategy, and effective communication skills to deliver insights that empower informed and agile business decisions.
Essential Functions
- Translate complex business requirements into clearly defined analytics projects.
- Perform advanced analytics, business intelligence (BI), and reporting to facilitate data-driven decision-making and automate business processes.
- Facilitate communication between analysts and business teams, including senior management.
- Apply logical thinking to problem-solving, identifying business solutions and the analytical steps needed to implement them through dashboards and reports.
- Collaborate with the Data Science Team on A/B testing and measuring the performance of model deployments, acting as the business liaison for tactical implementation and results presentation.
- Liaise with the Data Engineering team to implement data pipelines and tools, ensuring efficient and smooth execution of analytics.
- Utilize customer value segmentation and customer lifetime value metrics to target distinct customer groups and implement personalization initiatives.
- Act as a community builder to promote a data and analytics culture, supporting data-driven thinking and discussions around key analytics use cases.
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial, agile, and results-oriented approach to work.
- Assist business units in developing data and analytics capabilities, championing a data-driven culture within the organization.
- Support the adoption of analytical tools and methodologies, integrating data into strategic business decisions.
Qualifications And Competencies
- A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in engineering, business, finance, data science, computer science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in advanced analytics.
- Proficiency in SQL is mandatory; Python experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Capability to conduct qualitative market research, perform qualitative analysis, identify trends and patterns in data, and present findings compellingly through visualizations and presentations.
- Experience in data cleaning, transformation, analysis, and reporting using large datasets to support business use cases and drive value.
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS) and big data processing technologies (Redshift, Big Query) is advantageous.
- Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment with cross-functional, globally distributed teams, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Strong collaborative skills, enabling close work with cross-functional teams including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, business stakeholders, and solution architects.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in gathering requirements, interacting with stakeholders, and summarizing/presenting analyses.
- A demonstrated ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Involves periods of walking, standing, communication, reaching, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Requires frequent use of computers and other technologies essential for job functions, including handheld equipment and point-of-sale systems, with the ability to process transactions.
- Ability to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
