Job description
Role overview
Dagen is expanding its business intelligence function and is looking for an Associate Data Analyst to join the team in Northwest Houston. This is an on-site role with a standard 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule. The position is temporary-to-hire and offers a maximum annual compensation of $75,000.
The role supports reporting and analytics for a national, multi-unit Asian-inspired food management business. The right candidate will be highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with data, and motivated by improving revenue growth and operational performance through better reporting, automation, and analysis. Strong communication, collaboration, customer service awareness, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly are important for success.
Core responsibilities
You will help build dashboards and reports, work with SQL-based databases, improve manual processes through automation, and partner with internal teams to turn business needs into useful analytical outputs. You may also assist with documentation, user training, and other related assignments as needed.
Data analysis and reporting
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Tableau, Excel, and related reporting tools.
- Review large data sets to spot patterns, performance trends, and areas where operations can improve.
- Support KPI monitoring and reporting so leadership can make informed decisions.
Database and systems support
- Develop, improve, and maintain SQL queries in MySQL or comparable relational database environments.
- Assist with database components such as schemas, views, and triggers to make reporting faster and data easier to access.
- Support ETL and data integration work across different business systems.
Process improvement and automation
- Design automated workflows and reporting routines that improve speed, accuracy, and scalability.
- Identify inefficient processes and suggest practical, data-backed improvements.
- Help maintain data quality through validation, auditing, and integrity checks.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work with department leaders and stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver analytical solutions.
- Prepare documentation and help train users on reporting tools, dashboards, and how to interpret the data.
- Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Handle additional duties assigned by the team.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Data Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should bring 2 to 3 years of experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence, along with solid hands-on knowledge of Tableau, Microsoft Excel, and SQL/MySQL. Familiarity with ETL concepts and data analysis methods is expected. The role also calls for strong problem-solving, organization, and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a customer-focused mindset are essential. Experience with Python or another scripting language is a plus, and Salesforce or a similar CRM platform is preferred.
