Position Overview
This part-time custodial role is based at Arbor Springs Elementary School in Newnan, Georgia. The position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, and there are 2 openings available. Pay is listed at $14.28 per hour.
Purpose of the Role
The custodian is responsible for helping maintain a clean, safe, orderly, and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes keeping the school building and surrounding areas in good condition so that the campus remains suitable for learning and daily operations.
Key Duties
Daily work includes general cleaning and upkeep throughout the school and its grounds, such as sidewalks, driveways, and play areas. Typical tasks involve sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dusting, dewaxing, waxing, and other standard custodial and light maintenance activities.
The role also involves cleaning blinds, windows, light fixtures, walls, carpets, restrooms, and other areas inside the facility. Classrooms must be swept daily, and waste containers must be emptied each day. Corridors are to be cleaned after school and also during the day whenever needed.
Restroom floors must be scrubbed and disinfected daily, and all sanitary fixtures must be cleaned each day. The custodian is also expected to inspect equipment and the facility every day and report any damage to the principal right away.
During scheduled work hours, the employee must remain on school premises. The custodian may also be required to stay on site when the principal authorizes building use for special purposes. Additional tasks may include moving furniture and equipment for activities as directed by the lead custodian or principal, following instructions from school leadership, and carrying out other assigned duties.
Working Conditions and Expectations
The position requires excellent attendance and punctuality. The custodian must follow local laws and regulations related to the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Compliance with reasonable verbal or written directions from the lead custodian, principal, or other administrators is expected at all times.
Education and Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. The school district may also accept comparable qualifications it considers appropriate and acceptable.
