About the Role

Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is a historically Black, 1890 land-grant institution focused on student-centered teaching and learning. The university supports global leadership development for a diverse student body through bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs delivered through multiple instructional formats and public service.

This position is responsible for keeping campus buildings clean and sanitary within the Residential Life & Housing Department.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have at least six months of experience in custodial work, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service.

Job Duties and Other Information

• Clean restrooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned spaces by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Empty waste bins and decontaminate trash containers as required.
• Move, rearrange, and dust furniture and fixtures.
• Prepare cleaning solutions at the correct strength for different tasks.
• Strip, clean, and polish floors using industrial-grade equipment.
• Follow approved procedures for handling and disposing of infectious waste.
• Keep custodial equipment in working order and report minor building or equipment repair needs to a senior custodian.

Position Details

This is a probational appointment. The starting pay is $10.70 per hour.
