Role Summary
The Credentialing Coordinator is a full-time, on-site position in Augusta, GA. The person in this role manages the full credentialing cycle for healthcare providers, including new credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging, while staying aligned with organizational standards, payer rules, and regulatory expectations.
Key Duties
- Organize and oversee initial credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging activities for providers.
- Gather, review, and confirm the accuracy of provider documents and supporting records.
- Keep credentialing files and databases current, complete, and well-maintained.
- Prepare and submit applications to insurance carriers, hospitals, and other relevant organizations.
- Track expiring licenses and certifications and follow up on items that are still outstanding.
- Ensure credentialing tasks are completed within required timelines.
- Work closely with providers, internal teams, and outside partners to answer questions and resolve issues.
- Support provider onboarding and ongoing participation with payers and facilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hands-on experience with provider credentialing and medical staff credentialing, including both initial and renewal processes.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare paperwork, licenses, and certifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with a service-oriented approach when working with providers, colleagues, and external organizations.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a busy setting.
- Comfort using office applications and databases; familiarity with credentialing platforms or payer systems is an advantage.
- Experience in a medical office, healthcare system, or managed care setting is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional training or certification in medical staff services or credentialing is considered a plus.
