Job summary

The courier role is responsible for collecting and delivering urgent materials within the required timeframe while following company procedures and safety standards.

Key duties

• Operate the company vehicle to reach customer locations, enter and exit the vehicle frequently, and move up and down stairs to collect and deliver documents and parcels, even in difficult weather, while working to strict deadlines.
• Transport time-sensitive documents and packages safely and on schedule, taking traffic flow, alternative routes, road rules, and driving conditions into account to meet customer and DHL time commitments.
• Make sure every item received for delivery reaches the correct recipient.
• Receive customer payments for duty packages delivered under cash on delivery arrangements, including cash, cheque, and debit or credit card payments, and submit the invoices and collected funds to Finance each day.
• Keep dispatch informed of all deliveries and collections by radio.
• Use a scanner to capture shipping and package details for all picked-up and delivered items.
• Follow punctual attendance and maintain proper work habits and safety compliance at all times.
• Escalate any suspected security issue or unusual event to the Lead Courier without delay.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned from time to time.

Skills and qualifications

• Strong spoken and written English.
• Good people skills and the ability to interact well with others.
• High-level customer service capability.
• Self-driven, organized, and motivated approach to work.
• Ability to stay effective under pressure.
• Valid General Driver’s Licence for 3000 kg or above, held for more than 3 years.
• Clean police record.
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Ability to read maps, use GPS, and ideally know the delivery area well.
• Prior professional driving experience, preferably in a delivery position.

It also requires careful handling of cash-on-delivery payments, accurate recordkeeping through scanning and radio updates, and strict adherence to safety and security procedures.
