Where you'll work
Job description
About the company
BookBub is a fast-growing consumer technology company serving millions of readers every day with tools that help them discover great books. Its products also help publishers and authors reach new audiences and drive sales. The company is continuing to scale while tackling new opportunities in the publishing space through its audiobook retail platform, Chirp.
About the role
Chirp is hiring a detail-oriented, data-minded book enthusiast with at least 2 years of professional experience to join the Content team. This person will curate and merchandise audiobooks for a large audience, while also helping run and improve curation workflows across the team.
What you'll do
- Select and evaluate audiobook submissions from author and publisher partners, using data, internal performance patterns, and industry research to identify the offers most likely to resonate with members.
- Build and maintain curated selections across the Chirp website, email campaigns, and other promotional placements so readers can quickly discover titles they will enjoy.
- Develop and execute content ideas for monthly themed sales.
- Organize, track, and improve curation operations so the team consistently meets its targets.
- Draft, refine, and proofread compelling copy for book listings and related marketing materials in Chirp's brand voice.
- Spot opportunities to improve curation, merchandising, and operational processes, then work with teammates across functions to implement those improvements.
What we're looking for
- Comfort using data to make decisions and take ownership of success metrics.
- Broad familiarity with book genres and categories, plus the flexibility to work confidently with titles outside your personal comfort zone.
- Strong accuracy, organization, and the ability to stay on schedule and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative working style and ease partnering across teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent professional communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading ability.
- Genuine excitement for a fast-moving environment with frequent change.
Compensation and benefits
The expected salary range for this role is $58,000 to $65,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on experience and may fall within or near this range. In addition to base pay, total compensation includes stock option awards and a competitive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, 401(k), generous paid parental leave, and take-what-you-need paid time off.
Work location and flexibility
This role is open to candidates based in MA, NY, RI, ME, PA, IL, and MD. The company offers a choose-where-you-work model, with options that can be predominantly remote, hybrid, or office-based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Support may include WFH equipment or a dedicated desk in the office. Most teams currently work in a hybrid setup, with some employees in the office full-time or part-time and others working from home. Collaboration is designed to be accessible across all work modes.
Interview process
The hiring process is designed to be friendly and low-pressure while giving candidates a chance to learn about the company as well. Typical steps include a resume review and introductory phone conversation, a take-home exercise to assess communication and problem-solving, and additional discussions with future teammates, the hiring manager, and People Operations. Applications are reviewed personally, and promising candidates are usually contacted by email within a couple of weeks. The team aims to stay flexible around applicants' availability and time commitments.
Equal opportunity and accommodations
The company encourages applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status. If accommodations are needed during the hiring process, candidates may request support at accommodations@bookbub.com. Requests are handled as privately as possible and do not affect eligibility.
