Role Overview
This position is focused on expanding and strengthening the franchisee network in the assigned region. The goal is to support business growth through clear strategy, partner acquisition, relationship management, and revenue delivery in line with the organization’s operating model.
Role Scope and Scale
The role sits within a business workforce of around 800 people and a department workforce of 45. Key operating measures for this position include managing 30 active business partners, bringing in 8 new franchisees, delivering productivity of 10x, driving 60% online revenue, and generating 300 cross-sell transactions.
Business Context
The organization is a large broking business dealing in equity, commodity, and currency. It operates across roughly 40 locations, serves more than 3 lakh customers, and functions in a highly regulated and competitive environment. The market includes major national broking firms as well as local players, and the role must navigate compliance, surveillance, and regulatory expectations from multiple authorities and exchanges.
What the Role Involves
The Cluster Manager is expected to source suitable franchisee partners, onboard them smoothly, and build long-term business relationships that increase reach, activation, and revenue in the cluster. The role also requires active support for existing partners, strong cross-sell execution, and close coordination with internal teams to ensure timely documentation, registration, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
This role focuses on four broad outcomes:
- Growing revenue from existing franchisee partners through active engagement, business planning, and sales support.
- Identifying, approaching, and acquiring new franchisees from high-potential geographies and competitor networks.
- Helping partners expand their business through customer acquisition, platform adoption, and market-facing activity.
- Ensuring adherence to compliance, statutory, and surveillance requirements while supporting cross-sell of company products.
Main Challenges
The position requires balancing growth with risk control in a highly regulated and closely monitored business. Additional challenges include winning franchisees away from competitors, maintaining partner retention, supporting business transfer, responding to changing market conditions, and keeping activation levels strong.
Internal Coordination
The role works regularly with RMS, surveillance, compliance and legal, franchisee customer care, onboarding, technology, and HR teams. These interactions cover exposure and limit requirements, surveillance checks, statutory matters, partner onboarding, system support, and people-related coordination.
External Coordination
Externally, the position interacts with existing and potential franchisees on a daily or weekly basis, and with industry peers on a weekly or fortnightly basis. These relationships are used to manage partner engagement, gather market intelligence, and stay updated on market trends.
