About the Role
The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners for permanent and fixed-term positions, including full-time and part-time roles, that may become available throughout the 2026 school year. Appointments can be made at any time for vacancies arising during this period. The Role
As a school cleaner, you will be responsible for internal cleaning tasks according to departmental procedures. This includes maintaining carpets and hard floor surfaces, cleaning restrooms, furniture, and fixtures, washing windows, dusting, removing rubbish, and performing other general cleaning duties. External cleaning responsibilities may also be assigned, such as cleaning verandas and covered areas, drink troughs, removing cobwebs, and other general upkeep as directed by the Cleaner in Charge. Periodic vacation cleaning, including carpet shampooing and pressure washing, will also be required.
We are looking for individuals who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, possess strong communication abilities, and demonstrate flexibility. A keen eye for detail is essential to maintain a clean and safe school environment. Ideal candidates will be organized, dependable, punctual, and have a thorough understanding of cleaning equipment and safe working practices.
Currently, there are two permanent morning shifts available (5:00 AM to 8:00 AM) and one permanent afternoon shift (3:00 PM to 6:00 PM).

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for employment, applicants must:
- Secure a valid Working With Children Check.
- Agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement.
- Hold citizenship or residency status in Australia (Australian/New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or possess a valid visa permitting work for the duration of the appointment).
