About the Role

Shape the future of the Larrakia Development Corporation (LDC), a leading Aboriginal-owned commercial organization. This unique Chief Executive role requires a blend of commercial leadership and deep cultural impact to foster lasting prosperity for the Larrakia people. LDC is dedicated to delivering business and employment opportunities while driving sustainable economic independence. The organization operates across property management, labor hire, trade services, and property development, and is developing the Larrakia Cultural Centre. The Chief Executive will report to an engaged Board, setting strategy, driving growth, and ensuring governance excellence. This role involves diverse activities, from consulting with Traditional Owners to negotiating with government and commercial partners, and developing new opportunities with the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and execute organizational strategy to drive growth and achieve LDC's mission.
• Foster and manage commercial, community, and government partnerships.
• Oversee property management, labor hire, trade services, and property development initiatives.
• Ensure governance excellence and compliance across all operations.
• Lead and inspire a team of approximately 50 staff, fostering development and high performance.
• Engage with Traditional Owners, families, and diverse stakeholders to build consensus and advance shared visions.
• Negotiate with government and commercial entities to secure opportunities and resources.
• Drive economic and cultural development initiatives for the Larrakia people.

Requirements

• Proven senior executive experience, ideally in sectors like infrastructure, construction, resources, or manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to grow businesses that balance commercial objectives with social purpose.
• Experience working closely with Boards and navigating government and regulatory landscapes.
• Strong capability in building organizations that thrive commercially while serving their communities.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills, with cultural awareness and business acumen.
• Ability to unite diverse stakeholders around a common vision.
• Experienced leader capable of inspiring, guiding, and developing staff at all levels.
• Proficiency in English.

Eligibility

This position is based in Darwin, NT. Candidates should be motivated by the opportunity to shape a legacy that delivers prosperity and pride for the Larrakia people. Prior experience working with Aboriginal organizations or communities is advantageous.

Education Required

Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, engineering, or a related field are preferred.
