Job description

Role overview

An opportunity has opened for an experienced RMN to join the ward leadership team within an Adult Acute Admissions ward in General Adult Services. Ward 2 is a mixed-sex unit with 22 beds and can expand to 24 beds when needed to handle increased demand.

You will work alongside another Charge Nurse and report to the Ward Manager (Senior Charge Nurse), with additional support from the Lead Nurse. The post calls for an RMN who aligns with NHS values, is dedicated to high-quality person-centred care, and wants to grow in both leadership and management with guidance from the Senior Charge Nurse.

What the role involves

The successful candidate should feel comfortable managing a broad range of clinical situations and supporting colleagues and partner professionals to deliver excellent care for service users while strengthening teamwork across the ward.

This position needs someone with strong leadership capability and substantial experience in adult mental health inpatient services. The ideal applicant will be self-driven, committed to person-centred care, professional growth, and continuous quality improvement.

The role expects education to degree level or an equivalent level of capability developed through experience. A thorough induction and ongoing educational support will be provided, and the team is committed to supporting learners, clinical supervision, and personal development.

Employment details

This is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity. Current permanent employees must discuss the opportunity with their substantive line manager before applying. If secondment approval has not been obtained, the application cannot proceed for a fixed-term post. External applicants with continuous NHS service must also have a secondment agreement from their current board before applying.
