Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Bookkeeper position located in Harare. The primary responsibility is to maintain precise financial records. This includes diligently recording daily financial activities, processing incoming invoices, meticulously reconciling bank statements, and effectively managing both accounts payable and receivable.
The role also entails preparing and updating financial ledgers, providing essential support for the creation of monthly and annual financial reports, and actively participating in budgeting processes and cash flow monitoring. A key aspect of this position is ensuring strict adherence to all relevant accounting standards and internal control procedures. Furthermore, the Bookkeeper will liaise with external auditors or accountants as required.
The Bookkeeper will also collaborate closely with various internal teams, furnishing timely financial data to facilitate informed decision-making and effective project planning.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong bookkeeping capabilities, encompassing precise transaction recording and ledger upkeep.
- A proven ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and associated financial reports.
- Proficiency in utilizing accounting software and standard office productivity tools, such as spreadsheets and word processing applications.
- A robust understanding of fundamental finance principles and practical experience in generating journal entries.
- A relevant academic qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline. Progress towards or possession of a professional certification is considered advantageous.
- Prior experience in a bookkeeping or junior accounting capacity, ideally within a small to medium-sized enterprise or agency setting.
- Exceptional accuracy, a keen eye for detail, and superior organizational abilities.
- The capacity to work effectively on-site in Harare, meet stringent deadlines, and communicate financial information clearly to colleagues outside of the finance department.
Requirements
- A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
