About the Role
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology department. This is a part-time, fixed-term position for 32 hours per week, ending on February 14, 2027, to cover maternity leave. The role is based at Milton Keynes University Hospital, a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through research and education. The hospital is expanding its facilities and services, including a new Radiotherapy Centre and upcoming Women and Children’s Centre.
Responsibilities
- Participate in routine and specialist duties to ensure the day-to-day operational delivery of the Cellular Pathology laboratory service.
- Assist in the provision of all aspects of a Cellular Pathology service, utilizing specialist knowledge and expertise.
- Work in accordance with trust health and safety policies and departmental procedures.
- Assist with training and educational activities within the department.
- Contribute to delivering a diagnostic service that meets accreditation and regulatory requirements for effective patient care.
Requirements
- HCPC registration is mandatory.
- A BSc in an appropriate scientific discipline is required.
- Demonstrated strong technical and troubleshooting skills within a laboratory setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 15189 standards and quality management systems.
- Experience working as part of a scientific and support staff team.

Eligibility
Candidates must be HCPC registered with a BSc in an appropriate discipline. The role is open to individuals with strong technical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. Sponsorship is not offered for this role.
