Role overview

SSP Canada is hiring a Baker for its operations at Victoria International Airport in Sidney, British Columbia. The company runs multiple airport food outlets, including Tim Hortons, Spinnakers on the Fly, and Fresh Cup.

Compensation and benefits

  • Pay starts at $21.80 per hour, plus participation in a tip pool.

Security and work authorization

This role is based in a secure airport setting and requires a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and able to present the government-issued documents needed for airport security clearance. These documents will be checked during onboarding in line with Transport Canada requirements.

What you'll do

  • Prepare breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other baked items according to production and catering schedules, while supporting daily production planning.
  • Use approved recipes, follow set production standards, and operate the appropriate equipment to prepare food correctly.
  • Maintain production logs, including waste records, used and unused portions, and shortages, and alert a supervisor when stock is running low.
  • Keep presentation, portioning, food quality, and serving temperatures at the required standard.
  • Keep the work area, tools, utensils, and equipment clean, organized, and sanitary.
  • Work efficiently during busy periods while staying calm, accurate, and productive.
  • Check that all food is displayed, served, and presented in line with company standards.
  • Set up the kitchen or station each day and make sure all food items, paper goods, and condiments are stocked.
  • Store, handle, and rotate all ingredients and products correctly.
  • Complete all tasks listed on the daily prep and baking PAR sheet.

Experience and qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience in a food service setting is required.
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills are needed to speak with guests and handle orders.
  • Prior experience resolving customer service issues is important.
  • The job requires the ability to stand and work in confined areas for extended periods.
