Job description
Role overview
Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management offers the chance to support clients around the world while working within one of the largest asset managers globally, overseeing more than $2 trillion in assets under supervision. The business blends traditional and alternative investments and serves a wide range of clients, including pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurers, endowments, foundations, financial advisors, and individuals. The culture emphasizes integrity, transparency, collaboration, and long-term, sustainable performance.
The Asset Management division provides investment and advisory solutions to institutional and intermediary clients across major asset classes such as fixed income, equities, and alternatives, as well as across products like mutual funds, ETFs, separate accounts, and alternative investments. The Client Solutions Group focuses on building durable client relationships and delivering investment themes and solutions from across the firm.
The Sustainability & Impact Client Solutions team is looking for an Associate in New York City to help advance sustainability-focused client solutions across public and private markets. The role is centered on generating differentiated perspectives on sustainable investing, supporting content-rich advisory work, and partnering with global colleagues, institutional sales teams, and investment teams to expand the firm’s sustainability capabilities across regions and asset classes.
Key responsibilities
This position involves coordinating with teams across investments, sales, and risk/control functions to ensure smooth delivery of sustainability-related products and services for Americas institutional and retail clients. The Associate will communicate the firm’s sustainability and impact investing capabilities to internal and external audiences, support complex client projects, and contribute to portfolio analysis, strategic planning, market intelligence, and tailored product development.
The role also includes researching sustainability trends, climate and energy investments, regulatory changes, and leading practices in impact investing. In addition, the Associate will create client-facing materials such as presentations, pitch content, due diligence responses, and RFP language, while helping deepen long-term client relationships by understanding client objectives and sustainability priorities. The position also supports coordination between sales, product, and investment teams so sustainability solutions are reflected in broader commercial strategy.
Requirements and qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Strong background in sustainable finance, climate, and impact investing is essential. Experience in investment management, business development, or advisory services is highly preferred, especially in client-facing roles with allocators such as pension funds, insurers, endowments and foundations, family offices, or high-net-worth individuals.
Knowledge of portfolio construction and investment processes is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should bring strong intellectual curiosity, a practical commercial mindset, the ability to manage multiple workstreams, and comfort with ambiguity and complexity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organization, project management capability, teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to give and receive direct feedback are also important. Series 7 and 63 are required, or must be obtained within 3 months of joining.
