Job description

Role overview

An opportunity is available for an Associate Scientist to join the Dundalk QC team within Site Analytical Sciences, part of Global Quality and Large Molecule Analytical Sciences. This position supports a modern, fast-moving start-up style environment where analytical work is carried out using advanced technology.

The role focuses on release and stability testing, execution and troubleshooting of analytical methods, transfer and verification of new methods, support for Digital Lab Records, and participation in continuous improvement and compliance work in a regulated quality control setting.

Key duties

  • Assess and interpret analytical results and associated data.
  • Assist with the digitalisation initiative, including reviewing methods for Digital Lab Records rollout and requalifying equipment.
  • Support equipment qualification activities.
  • Help with technology transfers from other sites.
  • Apply GMP expectations when preparing experiments and protocols.
  • Check that protocols and reports meet compliance standards.
  • Maintain safety standards at laboratory level.

Required background and capabilities

To succeed in this role, candidates are expected to bring a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related scientific area. Industry experience in pharmaceuticals is also required.

Hands-on familiarity with compendial testing methods such as pH, TOC, Karl Fischer, appearance, and osmolality, along with Total Protein, EIAs, PCR, or microbiological methods, is important. A solid understanding of the product development lifecycle, regulatory submission needs such as IND, IMPD, MAA, and BLA, and current GMP expectations including ICH and pharmacopeial requirements is also needed.

Preferred attributes include a proactive, service-minded, and communicative approach, the ability to troubleshoot and work independently, strong personal integrity and credibility, and enthusiasm for Lean and continuous improvement.
