Job description

Job purpose

This role is part of the Active Ageing Centre (AAC) team and supports programmes and initiatives that encourage active ageing and improve seniors’ overall wellbeing. The position reports to the Centre Supervisor and contributes to daily centre operations, outreach, and community engagement to help create an inclusive and lively environment for older adults.

Programme support

  • Support the rollout of activities and programmes under the five Active Ageing Programme domains: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and vocational.
  • Prepare spaces, coordinate, and help run daily senior activities, workshops, and events.
  • Collect participant feedback from seniors and recommend ways to improve programme delivery.

Community outreach and engagement

  • Carry out door-to-door outreach to identify seniors in the neighbourhood and connect them with AAC services and activities.
  • Help engage seniors who may be isolated or at risk and encourage them to take part in centre activities.
  • Develop trust and rapport with seniors so their needs can be better understood and supported.

Volunteer and partner coordination

  • Assist with organising volunteer participation in programmes and activities.
  • Provide administrative and logistics support for work with community partners and other stakeholders.

Administrative support

  • Keep accurate records of attendance, activity schedules, and programme reports.
  • Prepare materials and arrange logistics for activities and events.
  • Handle basic data entry and filing to support documentation and reporting requirements.

Centre operations

  • Support the day-to-day running of the AAC, including resource management and setup for activities.
  • Help maintain a safe, tidy, and welcoming environment for seniors and visitors.

Qualifications

The preferred qualification is at least GCE O Level, or a diploma in a related area such as Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, or Gerontology.

Requirements

  • Good people skills and clear communication ability to work with seniors and volunteers.
  • Experience in community engagement or senior-focused work is helpful, though not essential.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach when interacting with different senior groups.
  • Sound organisational and time management abilities.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and openness to learning other systems as required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English plus at least one local language or dialect to communicate effectively with seniors.

Work location

The role is based in Toa Payoh or Marsiling.
