Role overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager with the store’s daily operations and steps in to make routine decisions when required. This role helps ensure the store runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with the wider retail strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to store-level planning and help put the retail strategy into action in line with the company’s broader business direction.
- Review performance across departments and compare results to identify opportunities that improve operational efficiency and commercial outcomes.
- Assess product assortment both quantitatively and qualitatively, then recommend improvements that can raise sales and profitability.
- Maintain effective stock control, including stock value tracking, monitoring shortages, placing orders, and overseeing merchandise deliveries across all departments.
- Oversee the upkeep and servicing of company assets, and take steps to protect and use those assets effectively for strong performance.
- Lead the team to meet customer needs and deliver a consistently high level of service.
- Promote and maintain strong hygiene, safety, and security standards throughout the store.
- Ensure merchandise plans and store layouts are implemented accurately.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Strong spoken English is necessary.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a comparable position.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proven leadership capability.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.
