Role overview
The Assistant Learning & Development Manager will lead the planning and execution of training initiatives that strengthen employee capability and help the business reach its goals. This position works closely with department leaders to assess learning needs, coordinate the yearly training plan and budget, uphold Marriott brand expectations, and drive onboarding and leadership development efforts that encourage ongoing learning across the property.
What you will do
- Work with department heads to assess training gaps and support delivery of the property’s annual learning plan.
- Create, track, and update the yearly L&D schedule, manage the training budget, and prepare related reports.
- Arrange and conduct onboarding, orientation, and mandatory brand training for new team members.
- Organize and monitor practical on-the-job learning to keep operations aligned with brand requirements and business targets.
- Facilitate training sessions across the property, including supervisory, leadership, and professional development programs.
- Keep precise training records and make sure associates complete the required training hours as per brand standards.
- Review training outcomes and refine learning initiatives to improve their effectiveness over time.
- Support and develop departmental trainers while helping build a workplace culture focused on learning.
- Coordinate management trainee programs and guide participants through their development plans to successful completion.
- Maintain relationships with government bodies, academic institutions, and outside training providers, along with any additional duties assigned.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Psychology, or a similar discipline. Candidates should bring 2 to 3 years of experience in Learning & Development, training, or Human Resources, ideally from the hospitality sector. Hands-on experience in designing, delivering, and assessing training programs is expected. Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and organizational abilities are important, along with confidence using Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Prior exposure to a Marriott property or solid familiarity with Marriott learning practices and brand standards is a strong advantage.
