Job description

About the Organisation

The Perth Mint is a long-established Western Australian institution with a global reach. Operating in East Perth for more than 125 years, it is known as a major visitor attraction, a respected exporter, and an important provider of precious metals to international markets. Its mission is to share the fascination of precious metals with people around the world.

The organisation offers a diverse workplace with opportunities across engineering, chemistry, art, and technical functions.

About the Role

This part-time, onsite opportunity is for an Assistant Engineering professional to support the Refinery Engineering team at the refinery site near Perth Airport. The position is a maximum 6-month contract, available for an immediate start, and offers flexibility in how the 22.5 weekly hours are scheduled.

You will assist with keeping engineering initiatives on track by supporting engineers with documentation, helping coordinate administrative workflows, managing purchase requisitions and invoices, and maintaining the systems and procedures that support refinery operations.

The role provides exposure to a specialised manufacturing and engineering setting and regular interaction with technical experts, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Refinery Engineering team.
  • Assist engineers with preparing, organising, and maintaining documentation.
  • Coordinate day-to-day administrative processes linked to engineering work.
  • Raise and track purchase requisitions and invoices.
  • Help maintain systems, records, and procedures used by the refinery.
  • Work closely with technical specialists, contractors, and colleagues across the business.

About You

You are a well-organised administrator who values accuracy, structure, and detail. You are comfortable handling several priorities at once, take initiative, and develop strong working relationships with different stakeholders.

You should have prior experience in an administrative position and be confident in communication and document handling. Experience supporting technical teams or having exposure to technical writing would be an advantage, though it is not mandatory.

Above all, you should work responsibly, respect confidentiality, take ownership of your tasks, and contribute safely within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid document management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
  • Comfort working with technical teams, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of accountability, confidentiality, and safe work practices.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Ability to pass a national security check.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package with employee discounts.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to join an organisation recognised by WORK180.
  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Access to employee resource groups covering reconciliation, gender, CALD, disability, mental health, neurodiversity, and pride.
  • Participation in charity and volunteering initiatives.
  • Health and wellness support, including an Employee Assistance Program, wellbeing initiatives, and community-building spaces.

Additional Information

This role is a 6-month maximum-term contract with a pro rata base salary of $45,208 plus superannuation. The position requires 22.5 hours per week, with flexibility in how those hours are arranged. Applications close on 26 June 2026, although the employer may close recruitment earlier if needed.

Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply if the role feels like a good fit.
