Job description
Role overview
Professional Sports Publications is hiring an Assistant Editor for its editorial team, which creates licensed sports titles and marketing publications focused on the industry. This is a full-time role that requires working from the Manhattan office.
What you will do
- Edit text, verify facts, and help organize and check page layouts.
- Manage a range of written content and image files.
- Stay in contact with clients and coordinate project details with them.
- Source and obtain photos as needed.
- Review advertisements for accuracy and readiness.
- Conduct research and sometimes draft short sports-related stories or statistical content.
Required capabilities
- Comfort using desktop publishing tools, especially Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Solid research abilities.
- Strong written and spoken communication.
- A sharp editorial eye and attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle several projects at once while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of AP Style and familiarity with sports is preferred.
- Understanding of book production and prepress workflows is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The role pays an annual salary of $45,000, plus benefits.
