Role overview
This opportunity is within the Analytical Sciences team, which is looking for an Analytical Biochemist and/or Biologist at Research Associate level to support gene therapy and enzyme replacement therapy programs. The role calls for someone who is self-driven, able to work independently, thinks critically, and communicates clearly in a busy, multidisciplinary setting. The work focuses on running a broad range of analytical methods and assays used to characterize therapeutic candidates during clinical and commercial process development.
What you will do
- Carry out product testing to support Drug Substance and Drug Product process development activities.
- Perform non-routine testing on in-process and final product samples for key projects handled by the TDS processing team.
- Run analytical methods such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, and plate-based assays.
- Record results carefully in line with Good Laboratory Practice requirements and company SOPs.
- Work with teams across Drug Substance Technologies, Drug Product Device Technologies, Manufacturing, and Quality.
- Summarize data clearly and provide quantitative interpretation of experimental findings.
- Deliver concise presentations during department meetings.
- Share weekly progress updates with the manager for each program.
- Prepare experimental plans and results, then circulate them with collaborators and the supervisor; present updates regularly in group discussions.
- Maintain electronic records and reports in a format that can be easily accessed during inspections.
Skills and experience needed
- Strong working knowledge of GMP, GLP, and relevant regulatory expectations.
- Understanding of protein chemistry, protein function, and bioassays.
- Hands-on exposure to cell culture methods and protein expression or activity readouts.
- Strong written, verbal, collaboration, and communication abilities.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret findings, and communicate scientific results effectively.
- Capacity to stay flexible and productive in a fast-moving, multi-tasking environment.
Preferred experience
- Background in method troubleshooting, qualification, and transfer is desirable.
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical development would be an added advantage.
Education and level
For Research Associate 1, the role requires a bachelor's degree in biological sciences plus at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 1 year of relevant experience. For Research Associate 2, a bachelor's degree in biological sciences plus at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience, is expected. The final title will depend on the candidate's experience.
