Position Description
The Development Assistant and Coordinator of Development Events provides hands and feet to the overall University Development Office fulfilling many office procedures and also coordinates the logistics of several public facing development events per year including receptions, lunches, groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies.
Essential Functions
- Provide a wide range administrative support functions that vary daily and weekly including answering telephones, processing purchasing receipts, assisting visitors, and donor relations items such as involvement of mailings and thank you processes.
- Provide support for events such as: dedication and groundbreakings, the annual President’s Circle Reception, luncheons, dinners and other receptions, celebrations, office sponsored university wide activities and community events
- Organize each event into Basecamp software so all anticipated functions and individual responsibilities and timeframes are identified for each event throughout the year
- Work collaboratively with the Vice President for Development, University President, and University Development and Alumni staff to plan and coordinate logistics and desired outcomes for each event
- Communicate at weekly staff meetings upcoming events and extend reminders for any who have specific responsibilities
- Handle or assign reservation tracking for events and subsequent updating of information in Raiser’s Edge
- Create, when necessary, information, invitations or graphics for events
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work as team member within a busy and energetic office atmosphere with all the members of the Development staff and other campus partners.
- Maintain a friendly, competent atmosphere.
- Perform administrative support of a variety of complexities.
- Treat sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith
- A commitment to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning
- A knowledge of and proficiency of the Microsoft suite of products.
- A willingness and ability to learn and use with proficiency the University’s donor software, Raiser’s Edge
- Knowledge of and ability to use and create from CANVA.
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Courteous manner in dealing with the public
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Good time management skills
