About the role
Artisan Council is a boutique digital marketing agency in downtown New York City that supports progressive brands across a fast-moving social and digital environment. The team is driven by community, diversity, culture, innovation, and a willingness to experiment early. This role is for someone who genuinely understands beauty and lifestyle content, stays close to social trends, and brings strong research, communication, and creative problem-solving abilities.
The company is hiring a Video Editor for a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extending the assignment or moving into a full-time role. The position is remote and focused on social-first video production, design direction, and creative support for ad campaign assets. You will work closely with the Creative Director and Senior Producer, while also collaborating with external production partners and internal stakeholders.
In this position, you’ll contribute to motion and still asset development, manage delivery timelines, help improve production processes, and support strategic creative discussions. Success means producing polished, high-quality video work that meets both creative expectations and operational deadlines. The role also includes participation in the company’s community initiative, where selected nonprofits are trained once a year in your area of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Support the Creative Director and Senior Producer in translating stakeholder ideas into finished creative output.
- Edit, color grade, mix sound, and export final files independently.
- Oversee video edits completed with external production partners.
- Create trailer cutdowns, H1 videos, multi-title versions, drop-ins, and other assigned video assets.
- Deliver video work that aligns with campaign goals, specifications, and deadlines.
- Organize production materials and maintain strong quality control, including naming conventions from first round through final handoff.
- Coordinate with post-production vendors by supplying footage, raw materials, and other required assets.
- Serve as the main internal contact for post-production communication on assigned projects.
- Partner with the Creative Team to develop effective video content and act as a post-production resource.
- Export and reformat footage for multiple aspect ratios and compression requirements.
- Track and apply current editing trends, especially for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
- Work collaboratively with art directors and outside production or post-production teams.
- Contribute to the #ACGivesBack program by training selected nonprofits once per year in your area of expertise.
Requirements
- At least 3–5 years of experience editing in a creative agency or similar production setting.
- An online portfolio must be available for review.
- Bachelor’s degree in Video Editing, Advertising, Marketing, or a closely related field.
- Strong working knowledge of motion graphics and sound design.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong quality-control mindset.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
- 5+ years of relevant editing experience, particularly for D2C, beauty, and consumer product brands.
- Advanced video editing experience, especially with Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve; After Effects is a plus, along with 2D/3D animation and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
- Background in beauty, skincare, and/or lifestyle brands.
- Proven sound-editing capability, including music selection, tracking, and sound effects.
- Ability to turn varied content into a cohesive, engaging story with minimal direction.
- Music video editing experience is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with project management and planning tools such as Trello, Asana, Jira, and Basecamp.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving mindset with the ability to generate fresh ideas quickly.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to operate efficiently on your own.
- Excellent time management and accuracy under pressure or tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work nontraditional hours and operate remotely when needed.
- Understanding of commercial business practices and trading terms and conditions.
- Experience managing deliverables and file organization in Google Drive and frame.io.
- Comfort using web-based content management tools.
- High level of multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong portfolio showing a broad range of motion and video work across small and large campaigns.
- Proactive, collaborative, and highly organized.
- Interest in staying current with emerging creative trends.
- Availability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred qualifications
The ideal candidate also brings experience with project management, Adobe Creative Cloud, data asset management or digital libraries, and research-driven asset sourcing. Familiarity with generative AI tools, including prompt writing and output evaluation, is considered an advantage, especially where those tools can improve workflows, products, or customer experiences. A background in marketing and advertising principles is also helpful.
