Role overview
This opportunity is being handled on behalf of a partner organization, which will manage all applications and further steps. The partner is seeking a Technical Writer located in Germany. In this role, you will turn complex technical ideas into clear, organized, and easy-to-use documentation for both internal teams and external audiences. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and QA specialists to make sure technical details are captured accurately and communicated in a practical way.
The position sits in a fast-moving, product-focused setting where you will help document APIs, system behavior, integrations, and user journeys. You will also influence documentation standards, make knowledge easier to access, and contribute to a better product experience through strong technical content.
Key responsibilities
- Build, update, and continuously refine structured technical documentation that is easy for users to follow across products and systems.
- Study technical requirements, specifications, APIs, and system logic to create documentation that is precise and dependable.
- Partner with developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to collect, verify, and clarify technical details.
- Produce documentation for APIs, integrations, workflows, configuration rules, error handling, unusual scenarios, and release updates.
- Improve existing content to keep it accurate, consistent, readable, and aligned with internal documentation standards.
- Take part in technical walkthroughs, peer reviews, and planning discussions to ensure documentation quality.
- Develop and maintain style guides, templates, terminology, documentation standards, and best-practice processes.
- Help spread knowledge across teams and support improvements to documentation workflows.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working as a Technical Writer or in a comparable documentation-oriented role.
- Hands-on experience creating both end-user documentation and developer-oriented materials such as manuals, guides, and API references.
- Comfort using documentation tools such as Confluence, Notion, Document360, or similar platforms.
- Experience with task and project tracking tools like Jira or Trello.
- Basic ability to use visual and screenshot tools such as Snagit, Lightshot, or PickPick to make documentation clearer.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and how technical teams operate day to day.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into simple language.
- High attention to detail and consistency in wording and terminology.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort working through large amounts of technical information.
- Intermediate or stronger English proficiency.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and also work independently.
- Good organizational skills and the capacity to handle several documentation priorities at once.
