Store Manager

Role overview

The Store Manager will be responsible for keeping the store running smoothly and efficiently while ensuring customers consistently receive excellent service and a strong fresh food offering. The role focuses on achieving key business goals, including sales and profitability, through strong leadership of both people and day-to-day store operations.

Candidate profile

This opportunity suits someone with at least 2 years of experience in a retail management role, a solid understanding of KPIs and targets, and the ability to interpret reports and turn them into action. Confidence using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, is important, along with strong communication, delegation, and a hands-on work ethic. A genuine interest in grocery retail and the ability to perform well in a busy environment are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the store in line with the brand’s values of being proud, energetic, imaginative, and community-focused.
• Make sure the store operates efficiently and without disruption.
• Work with the team to set, track, and deliver sales, gross margin, net margin, waste, and other agreed performance targets.
• Apply planograms accurately and ensure the correct product range is consistently available on the shop floor.
• Handle staff scheduling and annual leave, while keeping records accurate and secure.
• Maintain regular communication with the Store Owner.
• Ensure the store’s merchandising and overall presentation remain at the highest standard and align with store guidelines and planograms.
• Support a safe, respectful, inclusive, and well-communicated workplace between staff and management.
• Resolve customer queries promptly, professionally, and in line with store procedures.
• Welcome new initiatives and adapt positively to new ways of working.
