Role overview
This position is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and overseeing drafting and design support for engineering, maintenance, and modification activities across refining operations plants and equipment.
Documentation control and change management
The role includes managing all documentation control activities across both electronic and hard-copy records. This covers philosophies, strategies, specifications, procedures, and the creation and upkeep of a complete documentation service. The incumbent will also coordinate Management of Change (MOC) processing and approvals, including the preparation of as-built drawings, data sheets, and related records.
Quality, standards, and compliance
All drawings and documents must be checked for accuracy, completeness, and presentation quality, and must align with approved standards, specifications, and design requirements.
Coordination and technical support
The job requires providing guidance on company standards and the relevant numbering system, as well as supporting the review of incoming contractor and vendor submissions together with the responsible discipline engineer. The role also involves working closely with project engineers to ensure project deliverables are handed over in their final as-built form, including dossiers, drawings, and other required records.
Experience and technical capability
Candidates should have strong spoken and written English skills, sound working knowledge of Technical Document Management Systems (TDMS) and Electronic Document Systems (EDMS), and solid computer proficiency, including Access, Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
Applicants must bring 12 years of experience in design work within a drawing office of a major petrochemical design contracting organization, including preferably 5 years in a supervisory role in a drawing office. They must also be fully familiar with internationally recognized standards and codes of practice used in the petrochemical industry, and have good exposure to electrical, instrumentation, and piping materials for oil and gas refining facilities or the petrochemical sector.
Education
A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required.
