About the Organization
Leadership Houston, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in 1982. It brings together leaders from varied backgrounds to encourage meaningful discussion and collaboration aimed at strengthening the quality of life in Houston. The organization’s purpose is to enlighten, empower, and engage community leaders by building greater civic leadership capacity.
Role Overview
The Program Manager will lead the planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of Leadership Houston’s programs, with the Signature Program as the main priority. The role combines program oversight, community and stakeholder engagement, event coordination, impact tracking, and support for revenue generation through partnerships. This position works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to keep programs aligned with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
The Program Manager will be responsible for managing program operations end to end, supporting stakeholder relationships, contributing to budget planning, assisting with fundraising activities, and helping drive marketing and communication efforts. The role also includes leadership support and coordination with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of day-to-day activities.
Program Management
- Lead the design, execution, and ongoing refinement of the Signature Program and other organizational initiatives.
- Create and maintain program content, curriculum, and speaker participation.
- Track program performance through metrics and participant input to measure outcomes and guide improvements.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Develop strong working relationships with alumni, corporate sponsors, and community leaders connected to Leadership Houston.
- Work with the Board of Directors to strengthen visibility and participation in programs.
- Represent the organization at community events and meetings.
Budget and Fundraising Support
- Oversee program budgets and ensure resources are used effectively and sustainably.
- Identify sponsorship and funding opportunities that can support program growth.
- Work with the Executive Director and Development team on grant applications and fundraising efforts.
Marketing and Communications
- Help shape promotional strategies for programs across social media, newsletters, and outreach efforts.
- Coordinate with marketing staff on the creation of supporting promotional materials.
Leadership and Operations
- Assist the Executive Director with strategic planning and organizational development.
- Guide the Program Coordinator in completing routine operational tasks.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience overall, including a minimum of 2 years in program management within a nonprofit environment. Strong organizational and project management capability, effective communication, stakeholder relationship skills, and experience with budgeting, fundraising, and event coordination are essential.
Compensation
The base salary for this full-time position is $50,000 to $70,000 per year.
