Role overview
DP World Market Access Healthcare is looking for an experienced Product Manager with strong commercial instincts to own the Closure Technologies and Biosurgery portfolio across the region. In this role, you will shape and execute portfolio strategy, grow revenue, improve market share, and deepen customer relationships within the healthcare sector.
The position combines product management, sales leadership, clinical relationship management, and strategic marketing. You will work with sales teams, clinicians, hospital decision-makers, distributors, and manufacturing partners to support product uptake, portfolio expansion, and compliant business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Create annual strategic and tactical plans for the Closure Technologies and Biosurgery business.
- Deliver growth in revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Spot and develop new commercial opportunities that can improve product adoption.
- Use market research, competitor intelligence, and customer segmentation to guide growth plans.
- Work alongside sales teams to meet and outperform sales and margin targets.
- Coach and support field sales staff through accompaniment, mentoring, and account-level support.
- Build sales aids, customer value messages, marketing materials, and engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to tender responses and key account strategies.
- Develop strong relationships with surgeons, theatre nurses, procurement teams, hospital leaders, and key opinion leaders.
- Coordinate product evaluations, clinical demonstrations, workshops, and training activities.
- Support clinical adoption and broader usage of product solutions.
- Represent the business at conferences, workshops, and professional events.
- Plan and launch products, and run marketing campaigns.
- Oversee the product lifecycle from introduction through growth to portfolio refinement.
- Track market developments and customer feedback to identify portfolio improvements.
- Work with regional and global manufacturer partners to align local go-to-market plans.
- Keep brand messaging and positioning consistent across all customer interactions.
- Ensure commercial and marketing work follows company policy, healthcare regulations, and ethical standards.
- Support quality and regulatory obligations related to the portfolio.
- Take on other duties assigned by the Business Unit Head.
Required qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or another relevant healthcare field.
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in medical devices, healthcare sales, product management, or surgical products.
- At least 2 to 3 years in a Product Management or Commercial Leadership role in healthcare.
- Solid understanding of the African healthcare market and hospital procurement processes.
- A proven record of driving business growth and managing healthcare product portfolios successfully.
- Consistent achievement of sales targets, including exceeding them.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work with, influence, and collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Experience handling complex projects and multiple priorities at the same time.
- Experience working with distributors and major hospital accounts.
- Strong analytical thinking and strategic planning skills.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region.
Preferred background
- Registered Nurse qualification is an added advantage.
- Experience in an operating theatre environment is beneficial.
- Exposure to surgical sutures, wound closure products, biosurgery products, energy devices, or advanced surgical technologies is an advantage.
