Bloom Equity Partners values curiosity, analytical thinking, and continuous learning, and it fosters an inclusive workplace with equal opportunity for all candidates.

About the Role

The Associate will be part of the investment team and involved across the full investment lifecycle, from early screening and diligence through execution and post-close value creation. In this role, you will work closely with senior investors and portfolio company leaders to assess, close, and support investments in enterprise software and services businesses.

This is a broad, high-responsibility position at a fast-growing firm, offering exposure to many aspects of lower-middle-market private equity.

Key Responsibilities

You will help evaluate investment opportunities, support transaction work, and contribute to firm-building efforts.

  • Develop and update detailed financial models, including leveraged buyout analyses and operating models for potential transactions.
  • Perform initial screening of prospects by assessing market size, competition, and financial profile to judge whether they align with the firm’s strategy.
  • Draft screening memoranda and share initial conclusions with the investment team.
  • Take ownership of diligence workstreams and build a deep understanding of target companies’ customers, sales motions, churn patterns, product positioning, competitors, teams, and markets.
  • Coordinate with outside advisors such as attorneys, accountants, consultants, and sector specialists throughout the deal process.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, presentations, and other supporting documents.
  • Assist with deal structure, term sheet drafting, and negotiations.
  • Partner with portfolio company boards and management teams after closing to improve operational efficiency, sales and marketing processes, and financial management.
  • Support add-on acquisition efforts, including target sourcing, diligence, and integration planning for buy-and-build initiatives.
  • Track portfolio company performance through financial review, KPI monitoring, and recurring reporting.
  • Help improve the firm’s investment processes, CRM tools, and internal knowledge resources.

Candidate Profile

The firm is looking for someone with relevant transaction experience and strong analytical judgment.

  • A minimum of 2 years of investment banking or accounting experience, or 1 year of private equity investing experience is required; candidates who do not meet this threshold should not apply.
  • Experience with buyouts in B2B enterprise software or tech-enabled services is preferred.
  • Strong ability to build financial models and perform diligence across different transaction types.
  • Excellent analytical judgment with the ability to turn complex information into clear investment recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
  • Solid project management, organization, process management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with intermediaries, company leaders, and advisors.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top university with a strong academic record.

What the Firm Offers

  • Competitive compensation with a salary plus discretionary bonus, along with full medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Estimated total compensation range of $150,000 to $250,000, depending on experience.
  • High autonomy in a lean team with mentorship-focused support for professional development.
  • Direct exposure to board members and C-suite executives through meaningful investment work.
  • Strong career acceleration in a growing private equity platform.
  • Manhattan office location, fully stocked kitchen, annual retreats, and regular team social activities.
