Role Overview
The Global Seller Onboarding team works with Square’s largest and most complex sellers to make sure they get full value from the platform. As an Onboarding Project Manager, you will own technical onboarding and activation for new merchants, creating a smooth, scalable, and high-quality experience. The position involves working with sellers before the sale to support discovery, solution validation, and the positioning of professional services, especially for mid-market and enterprise accounts.
What You Will Do
- Partner with sellers before a sale to help with discovery, scoping, planning, and validation of the proposed solution.
- Set clear expectations by explaining Square’s product strengths and limitations and documenting them accurately.
- Run several complex onboarding projects at the same time while balancing timelines, priorities, and available resources.
- Work closely with Sales, Account Management, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, and Engineering to deliver successful implementations.
- Translate technical needs for both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and practical way.
- Spot risks early in the onboarding process and keep stakeholders informed throughout the lifecycle.
- Handle data entry and data migration tasks for selected seller implementations.
- Develop strong expertise in Square’s platform and ecosystem to guide sellers on product and technical capabilities.
- Serve as the connection point between sellers and Product teams by turning complex needs into feature requests and roadmap feedback.
- Show professionalism, collaboration, and executive presence when working under deadlines with internal and external partners.
- Coach junior teammates and contribute to team training and enablement.
- Find process gaps and improve workflows using scalable AI-driven automation.
- Be willing to travel up to 10% for client meetings, hardware setup, and internal events.
Experience and Qualifications
You should bring at least 6 years of customer-facing experience, including 4 or more years in project management, implementation, or onboarding. The role also calls for a strong track record of handling multiple complex initiatives at once, along with the ability to simplify technical information and present solutions clearly. Familiarity with project management methods, tools, and best practices is important, and experience in POS, payments, or the wider technology sector is preferred. A working understanding of RESTful APIs, API documentation, and integration concepts is a bonus.
