Meat Associate

Role overview

As a Meat Associate with Walmart Canada, you’ll build retail experience while delivering attentive customer service and helping keep the meat department organized, well-stocked, and ready for shoppers. This role combines customer assistance, merchandising, product rotation, and food handling in a fast-paced store environment.

Key duties

• Keep the department tidy and properly arranged.
• Rotate inventory and remove items that have passed their expiry date.
• Make sure products are clearly priced and correctly labeled.
• Follow cold-chain rules, including thermometer checks and temperature logs, along with food safety and handling standards.
• Handle deli department orders and prepare items such as meat, cheese, and fried chicken, while supporting customer requests.
• Carry out ordering-related tasks as well as clearance, markups/markdowns, and all signage, flagging, pricing, and labeling procedures.
• Prepare deli and meat items using slicers, stackers, and other tools; cook chicken in a rotisserie oven or deep fryer; and portion salads and side dishes for display and special customer orders.
• Work in line with health and safety requirements.

Pay information

The starting wage for this position is $18.30 per hour.

Minimum qualifications

You must be at least 16 years old to be considered.
