About the Role
Places for People is looking for a skilled Joiner to carry out work in local communities across the Greater Newcastle Area. This is a permanent, site-based role where you will help improve homes and neighbourhoods while working for one of the UK’s largest housing providers and a Top 50 Best Workplace.
The position offers steady work in your local patch, with the chance to make a visible difference to customers’ homes. You’ll be working in occupied and empty properties, including environments where vulnerable customers may be present.

Key Duties
- Install and repair joinery elements in domestic homes
- Carry out work on doors, kitchens, flooring, and internal fittings
- Follow specifications, reports, and agreed quality standards
- Keep customers’ homes and belongings protected while the job is completed
- Work with supervisors, schedulers, and other teams to meet deadlines
- Log job progress and complete the necessary paperwork or digital records
- Help apprentices and support team delivery against KPIs
Working Pattern
- A planned daily schedule covering repairs and maintenance tasks
- Travel between appointments in the company van
- Work either independently or alongside other tradespeople
- Direct interaction with customers in their homes
- Deliver work to quality, safety, and compliance requirements
Important Information
This role may require travel across surrounding areas. A Basic DBS check is required. The recruitment team may bring the closing date forward if there is high demand, so early application is encouraged.
