Role overview
WildCare is preparing for a major organizational chapter with the launch of its new Wildlife Hospital and Education Center in Albert Park, San Rafael, planned for October 2026. This move follows a successful $24M capital campaign and brings the chance to guide a respected, community-backed organization through a period of growth and transition.
The incoming Executive Director will provide leadership as WildCare settles into its new, modern facility and continues strengthening its mission, finances, and public reach. The role includes oversight of key senior leaders such as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Director of Operations, while also deepening partnerships with funders, donors, and the wider community. A strong focus will be placed on preserving the organization’s culture, values, and long-standing connection with staff and volunteers.
This position calls for a leader who can motivate people, navigate change with confidence, and communicate effectively with boards, teams, donors, civic leaders, and the public. The organization is entering this phase with strong backing, momentum, and a committed network of supporters, offering the next leader a meaningful platform to expand WildCare’s influence in wildlife care and education.
Leadership and impact
The Executive Director will guide organizational evolution during the transition into the new facility and ensure the organization remains financially resilient and mission-focused. A key part of the role is inspiring a dedicated staff and large volunteer base while maintaining the compassion and spirit that define WildCare.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant is a change-oriented leader with emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly across a wide range of audiences. A sincere commitment to animals and the communities served by WildCare is essential.
