Role summary

As Executive Director, you will advise organisations working in some of Australia’s most complex and closely watched environments. You will use a range of research and measurement approaches to generate insights that support important strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the practice’s growth strategy, spot new commercial opportunities, and turn them into lasting client relationships.
• Take ownership of the commercial results of your portfolio, including scoping, pricing, delivery, and full profit-and-loss accountability.
• Guide methodological direction and encourage innovative approaches, while drawing on the wider group’s international best practices.
• Build and maintain senior relationships across corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors, serving as a trusted adviser.
• Lead the full business development cycle, from identifying prospects and preparing proposals to pitching and negotiating engagements.
• Manage team development by setting clear expectations, giving direct feedback, and creating opportunities for career progression.

About you

You are an experienced research leader who has worked at the intersection of evidence, influence, and commercial performance. You know how to design research programs that give leaders the confidence to make informed decisions.

Candidate profile

• Substantial experience leading research in a consultancy, agency, or advisory setting, with a strong record of winning and retaining major client accounts.
• Strong capability in research design across both tailored and ongoing measurement methods.
• The confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders, whether presenting to a board, handling procurement discussions, or coaching junior researchers.
• A solid understanding of Australia’s corporate, government, and public affairs environment, including the reputation pressures that influence it.
• Commercial strength and comfort discussing P&L, along with a drive to build and grow something meaningful.
