Dispatcher

About the role

This position sits within NZ Post Express and focuses on coordinating dispatch activity from the Kaiwharawhara depot in Wellington. The role is suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and can use practical problem-solving skills to keep the dispatch operation running smoothly.

You will be based onsite and manage the allocation of customer-booked work to the Express contractor fleet. The role requires quick, professional responses so callers receive the support they need, while you stay calm and organised in a fast-moving environment.

Because customer needs change frequently, the team must be able to adapt quickly and stay ahead of demand.

Working pattern

• Monday to Friday shifts
• Standard hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
• Occasional Saturday or public holiday work may be required
• Onsite role at Kaiwharawhara, Wellington

Key duties

• Dispatch customer bookings to the Express contractor fleet
• Respond to callers in a prompt, professional, and efficient manner
• Support the day-to-day dispatch function with accurate coordination
• Use sound judgement to solve issues as they arise
• Maintain calm, effective communication across phone, email, and face-to-face interactions

Pay information

The pay rate is $33.90 per hour, effective from 1 July.
