What the role involves
You will be working with the dispatch team and reporting to the Operations Manager, overseeing transport coordination for roofing products. The role includes creating daily manifests, organising and booking trucks, including long-length loads, speaking with drivers, and helping ensure deliveries are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
In addition, you will take responsibility for inventory-related tasks such as assisting with stock counts, helping reduce slow-moving stock, handling goods receipting, and supporting an organised and efficient yard layout by applying 5S methods. You will also provide customer support in the Tradeshop, assist with loading, and help manage cartage contractors so compliance and performance expectations are met.
This is a practical, fast-moving role that blends coordination, yard operations, and customer interaction in a busy steel environment.
Key responsibilities
- Create transport paperwork and organise the day-to-day delivery schedule
- Handle customer invoicing tasks
- Use gantry cranes and forklifts to move and manage products safely
- Oversee contractor drivers and make sure safety and road transport requirements are followed
- Keep stock records accurate and maintain a tidy, well-run yard
- Communicate with customers proactively about delivery updates
- Assist with monthly KPI reporting on delivery results
Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience in a comparable dispatch or logistics coordination role
- Good working knowledge of the Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, and Coromandel regions
- Strong computer skills
- Demonstrated experience working with transport providers and managing customer expectations
- Forklift and gantry crane skills, or a genuine willingness to be trained
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and a strong safety mindset
- Current clean driver’s licence
