Role Overview
As a Designer at CB2, you’ll partner with customers to plan and shape their spaces with thoughtful, elevated design solutions. The role blends interior design support, customer interaction, and creative selling, all while contributing to the CB2 experience: Be Positive. Inspiring. Finding a way. Your work will help drive sales growth and profitability while delivering an excellent customer journey in-store and through virtual channels.
What You’ll Do
- Boost sales and create a standout customer experience through meaningful conversations and premium design support, both in the store and online.
- Develop customized CB2 design concepts using preferred design software and tools, including mood boards, 2D floor plans, product selections, and visual style inspiration.
- Run one-to-one design consultations in person or through email, phone, and virtual meetings, making sure projects are completed on schedule.
- Keep a strong grasp of CB2’s visual style and merchandising approach across store, online, and catalog channels.
- Meet individual goals for sales, KPIs, service quality, and productivity, while engaging shoppers on the sales floor using the store’s selling process.
- Stay current on market shifts and broader industry design trends.
- Listen closely to customer needs and suggest products that match their goals, including loyalty and service programs such as Design Trade, designer rewards, CB2 credit card, and gift registry when relevant.
- Represent excellent service with a positive, enthusiastic approach in-store, virtually, and potentially in a customer’s home, ensuring fast, courteous, and efficient support.
What You Should Bring
- Working knowledge of foundational design areas such as spatial planning, fabric choices, lighting, and interior design styles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret both the brand direction and customer needs clearly and promptly.
- Comfort with technology, including 2D and 3D design tools, Google Workspace, video conferencing, and floor-planning software.
- Up-to-date awareness of current design trends.
- Proven ability to build durable, trust-based relationships with customers.
Experience and Skills
This position is a good fit for someone with at least 1 year of relevant experience in furniture sales, home décor design, retail, or customer service. Experience working directly with clients and recommending tailored solutions is preferred. Familiarity with Google platforms, virtual communication tools, and design software is also an advantage.
