Deli Assistant

Role overview

This full-time deli role focuses on preparing high-quality hot and cold deli items while keeping customer satisfaction at the centre of every shift. The position is based in Newcastle, Galway, at 5 Upper Newcastle.

What you'll do

• Prepare fresh food orders across the deli and related fresh food areas, including sandwiches, rolls, hot food, and sliced meats, while following the store’s portioning standards.
• Cook, arrange, and present food throughout the day so counters remain well stocked and appealing.
• Maintain high presentation standards across all fresh food counters during trading hours.
• Support customers by sharing product knowledge, recipe ideas, and personal recommendations in a helpful way.
• Handle customer questions promptly, professionally, and in line with store procedures.
• Work in line with Centra’s values: Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community-Based.

Candidate profile

The store is looking for someone with strong communication skills, the ability to work well in a team, and comfort operating in a busy, fast-moving environment. The role also requires someone who can manage several tasks at once under pressure and who has a genuine interest in food and customer service.

Additional information

This is a full-time deli position. The successful applicant must be available to work Monday to Friday in morning and afternoon shifts, including from September onwards. Full training will be provided. The closing date for applications is 14-07-2026. Job reference: 52869.
