Role overview

This opportunity is with a financial technology business creating a modern data platform for banks and credit unions. The platform will support key risk and performance management use cases for organisations ranging from community banks to large tier-one institutions. The company is looking for a Data Architect to shape the solution, take ownership of its direction, and scale it from handling millions of rows each month to more than 100 million rows per day over the next two to three years.

What you will do

Design and take responsibility for a lakehouse-style platform, built mainly on Snowflake with Databricks providing the engineering layer.
Guide a six-person team consisting of data engineers, a BI developer, and business analysts.
Work closely with senior leadership, including the C-suite and product leaders.
Build a governance model that keeps control central while allowing product teams to create and manage data outputs independently.
Help shorten delivery cycles so new features and client onboarding move from months to days.

What we are looking for

Hands-on experience architecting and scaling a Snowflake environment.
At least 5 years of experience in data architecture or platform engineering.
Evidence of delivering cost-efficient solutions and supporting substantial growth in data volume.
A background in banking or financial services would be an advantage.
Experience moving systems away from Microsoft Fabric would also be a plus.
