What the employer is looking for
The company is seeking upbeat, enthusiastic people who bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to stay composed when things get busy. No previous experience is required. The employer says it can provide the training needed to do well in the role. The ideal candidate should be dependable, friendly, and comfortable working as part of a team, whether they want a long-term opportunity or simply extra shifts.
Role summary
The main purpose of the job is to keep every part of the pub clean and well-presented so guests have a consistently good experience. The position offers flexibility in shift timings, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and late finishes, because the pubs operate from early morning until late at night.
Key duties
- Keep all areas of the pub clean to a high standard, including customer spaces, toilets, the bar, kitchen, staff-only areas, and outside areas.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks in line with the standard operating procedures.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly.
- Check cleaning stock levels and inform the manager when supplies need replenishing.
- Report maintenance concerns and pest-control issues to the manager on duty.
- Greet customers courteously and interact in a polite, professional manner by saying thank you and goodbye.
- Take part in induction, job-specific, and ongoing refresher training, and contribute to service improvements.
Pay and benefits
- Competitive hourly pay.
- Free meal and drink while on shift.
- 20% discount on food, drinks, and hotel stays for the employee and up to three guests when off duty.
- Additional £1 per hour for work completed between midnight and 5:59am.
- Bonus opportunity of up to 19% of pay.
- Access to guaranteed-hours and variable-hours contracts.
- Paid holiday entitlement.
- Free shares after completing the qualifying period.
- Loyalty reward scheme.
Development and progression
The employer notes that many current team leaders and managers began in kitchen or bar roles. Support for growth may include structured on-the-job learning, apprenticeships, management academies, cross-training into bar, kitchen, or hotel areas, and opportunities to move into team-leader or shift-leader positions and beyond.
Additional information
The workplace is described as inclusive, with a focus on making people feel comfortable being themselves regardless of background, preferences, or beliefs. The role may not suit applicants under 18 because of the shift pattern and possible lone working. Other positions may be available, including front-of-house and kitchen roles. The employer also notes that the vacancy could close early if a large number of applications is received.
Working pattern
The role is scheduled for 6 hours per week. Standard hours listed for each day are 6:00 to 8:00 from Monday through Sunday.
