Role summary

The carpenter will carry out carpentry-related tasks to a consistently high standard across the hotel. The position involves building, fixing, and maintaining wooden and wood-based fittings and structures, while also helping ensure guest areas and back-of-house spaces remain functional and well-presented.

Key duties

The job requires hands-on work with doors, windows, cabinets, shelves, counters, decorative items, furniture, and other wooden fixtures used throughout the property.

The carpenter will also use a range of woodworking tools and machines carefully and effectively, including saws, drills, routers, sanders, planers, and chisels.

Another important part of the role is diagnosing faults in wooden structures or furnishings and finding practical, efficient solutions.

The role also involves coordinating with other departments such as Housekeeping and Front Office, organizing work requests, and completing tasks within required timelines.

Requirements

Candidates should have prior experience working as a carpenter in a hotel setting.

Strong knowledge of woodworking methods is needed, including cutting, shaping, joining, and finishing wood to produce both useful and visually appealing structures and furnishings.

Applicants must also understand relevant local building codes, safety rules, and industry standards so that all work is completed safely and in compliance with regulations.
