Business Development Manager (NZ)

Role overview

This is a senior, independent contributor role reporting to leadership. The position is centered on creating new project pipelines and building long-term commercial relationships across New Zealand. The focus is on uncovering, developing, and closing opportunities in renewable energy and energy storage for major power users, while coordinating with internal teams and outside delivery partners.

What you will do

• Plan and implement business development approaches across the New Zealand market.
• Create and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in commercial, industrial, and energy-heavy sectors.
• Spot and generate opportunities in solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wider energy infrastructure.
• Handle the complete sales process, from initial outreach to signed contracts.
• Guide clients on long-term energy solutions, including behind-the-meter PPAs and energy storage approaches.

Requirements

• Background in business development or sales within renewable energy, utilities, energy storage, or infrastructure.
• A strong professional network within New Zealand’s commercial, industrial, energy, or infrastructure markets.
• Experience with selling or developing solar PV, BESS, microgrid, or utility-scale energy projects.
• Comfortable speaking with senior stakeholders and managing complex commercial conversations.
• Solid understanding of the renewable energy project journey from concept to delivery.
• Highly self-directed and able to operate independently.
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Must be based in New Zealand.
