- Serve as a technical support resource for environmental assessment and permitting work, including assistance with Species at Risk surveys and evaluations.
- Carry out construction-phase environmental compliance monitoring and help prepare monitoring and mitigation plans aligned with environmental management obligations.
- Contribute to technical reporting and verify the quality of field methods and supporting technical work.
- Provide practical guidance at the field level to reduce or avoid impacts on environmental receptors.
- Help resolve environmental issues and non-compliance concerns during construction, and perform environmental sampling such as water and soil when needed.
About you
- You have post-secondary education such as a university degree, diploma, or technical program graduation in a relevant field.
- Professional membership is preferred, such as full or provisional membership with a relevant body like P. Biol. or CWB, or registration as a B.I.T. approaching professional status.
- You ideally have around 5 years of experience planning, conducting, or managing biological studies, including wildlife, vegetation, wetlands, fish, or fish habitat work.
- You understand Prairies Region habitats and have working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental laws, regulatory processes, and current survey protocols in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, and similar jurisdictions.
- You are proficient in data collection, data management, and statistical analysis, and you have experience working on construction sites in an environmental role.
- You are highly detail-focused, maintain accurate field notes and methods, and can write clear data reports.
- You can develop and implement practical mitigation and management plans, and you communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- You work well independently or within multidisciplinary teams, maintain a positive attitude, and show professionalism and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
- You hold a valid driver's licence and have a good driving record.
- The role may require extended periods in remote locations, as well as overtime, weekend work, and variable hours.
