About the Role
We are hiring a Battery Production Engineer to work hands-on in lithium-ion battery pack manufacturing. This role focuses on running production activities, maintaining quality benchmarks, hitting output goals, and supporting ongoing improvements across the battery assembly line.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the complete manufacturing and assembly flow for battery packs.
- Handle cell sorting and matching, spot welding, busbar fitting, BMS integration, wiring, insulation work, enclosure assembly, and final pack assembly.
- Run and supervise battery production machines and assembly fixtures.
- Follow the production plan and meet daily output commitments.
- Perform battery tests such as OCV, IR, capacity, charge-discharge, leakage, and functional checks.
- Work in line with SOPs, work instructions, and quality requirements throughout the process.
- Spot production bottlenecks and coordinate with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve them quickly.
- Track process parameters and keep production logs, check sheets, and daily MIS reports up to date.
- Implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure process documents are updated correctly.
- Support improvement programs using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S methods.
- Maintain ESD discipline, workplace safety, and correct handling of lithium-ion cells and battery packs.
- Work closely with Planning, Quality, Stores, and Engineering teams to keep production moving smoothly.
- Coach production operators on assembly methods and safe work practices.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in lithium-ion battery pack assembly and a solid understanding of battery cell chemistry, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and pack configurations. Familiarity with spot welding, laser welding, battery test equipment, and shop-floor production tools is important. You should also be comfortable working with production documents such as BOMs, SOPs, and quality systems, and able to read engineering drawings and assembly instructions. Basic knowledge of SAP or another ERP system, along with strong Excel and reporting skills, is expected.
