Waiter (Part-time)

Overview

Medlock Square is a new year-round destination within the Etihad Campus, bringing together culture, leisure, and entertainment beside the Etihad Stadium and the Co-op Live arena. The development nods to the River Medlock and Manchester’s industrial history while helping shape the city’s next major experience-led district.

The wider food and beverage offer will include coffee houses, all-day dining, flagship restaurants, and premium dining experiences. The venue is designed to welcome everyday visitors as well as large event crowds, delivering strong hospitality throughout the week and across major event days.

About the Role

As a Waiter, you will take the lead within your restaurant section and help ensure service runs smoothly from start to finish. You will be the main contact for guests and team members in your area, supporting coordination between front of house and back of house while maintaining a consistently high standard of service.

This is a practical, on-the-floor role that requires ownership, confidence, and a strong sense of service. You will support junior colleagues, uphold standards, and work closely with management to keep operations seamless.

You will set the pace on the floor by combining menu knowledge, professional service, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to guest care.

Guest Service and Experience

Deliver an engaging, polished experience for guests throughout every service. Manage your section with care, keeping service flowing smoothly and paying close attention to detail. Offer clear menu guidance, thoughtful recommendations, and courteous responses to questions or feedback. Stay alert to guest needs so the experience feels welcoming and memorable.

Section Leadership

Coordinate Servers and Runners within your section so the team can keep pace, maintain quality, and deliver a consistent standard. Serve as the communication bridge between front-of-house and back-of-house teams, helping information move quickly and accurately. Support table rotation, timing, and service rhythm to improve both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Operational Standards

Assist with opening and closing routines so your area is ready for service. Keep the section clean, organised, and well presented throughout the shift. Work calmly and effectively during busy periods, including matchdays and major events, without compromising service quality or professionalism.

Training and Team Culture

Help new team members settle in through hands-on coaching and day-to-day support. Lead by example during service and contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-energy workplace culture.

Compliance and Standards

Follow health and safety, food safety, and licensing rules at all times. Deliver company service standards consistently while maintaining a professional appearance, strong accountability, and a high level of personal presentation.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential and desirable experience requirements for the role are included below.

Essential Experience

• Background working as a waiter or server in a premium setting or a busy, high-volume venue
• Good understanding of service expectations and guest experience standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal ability
• Confidence in guiding a section and supporting colleagues during service
• Ability to stay organised and composed when under pressure

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience as a head waiter or senior server
• Knowledge of wines, cocktails, or premium food and beverage service
• Experience in energetic, concept-led dining environments
